Early Steps Towards the Move

Ministry transition and preparations

This is to be the first of many posts. Our intention with these is to share with our ministry partners updates concerning our church plant and our own personal walks with Christ. We pray these posts are encouraging to all who read them and equip them to better pray and support our church. I (Beau) aim to keep these posts relatively short and semi-frequent. Depending on what's happening you should expect a weekly post with a monthly one that is more substantial. This one began much shorter, but is a good example of a monthly post.

This first post comes after our family's month serving in Romania. Our time in Romania was blessed and fruitful. In a Roma village under folk-Islam influence, we witnessed the Lord calling many to Him: including a group of young mothers at our VBS event, a widower called to Christ in his home, and an older lady who pulled us off of the street in search of Christ. In Iasi, a completely different setting, we worked with a new church and were able to have some meaningful conversations in street evangelism between the shadows of an enormous cathedral and palace. We spent some time with dear friends before joining Gentian Baptist for the continuation of impactful work in Darza with other dear friends.

Coming back from that trip has been surreal. After 5 years of pastoral service at our sending church I have transitioned into a part time position. While this allows us to fix our ministerial focus on the church plant, it has also required me to pick up construction work. The Lord has been good in providing work and in giving me time to re-callus my hands and learn how to balance ministry and profession.

We have already begun the process of preparing our home for the market. It is humbling and heavy at times as we remove pictures from the wall, tear down old playgrounds and trampolines, and host yard sales. This has been our home for a decade; it has been our home base for ministry. Many discussions, bible studies, worship sessions and family devotions occurred within these walls. We know the Lord is calling us to a new home though. We thank Him for all the time He has given us here and trust He has much in store for us. Already the lawn has begun to reclaim the bare patches from years of trampling feet and the girl’s (mostly Eyda) continuous mining of clay for mud pies. At some point, the nails will be pulled from the wall, the holes filled and walls painted. One day, it won’t be the extra items we no longer need in front of our home, but what is going with us to Wyoming loaded into a truck or trailer. I know that day will be huge for us. I know it would be easy to allow that day to be governed by sadness and stress, but I earnestly pray that day is one packed with joyful expectation and faithful obedience.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10

Prayer Requests

  • We are looking for our family’s new home in Byron and also trying to sell our current home in Phenix City.
  • Looking to purchase a truck for Wyoming that is 4wd. This is important for the weather and for Beau’s plan to work construction. We are also selling the current truck and an old jeep.
  • Beau and Kirstien have started “Meaningful Partnership Development” training, while simultaneously seeking to develop meaningful partnerships.
